Aliag. A project which embodies Ali Agal, a young interior architect, born and raised in the small German city of Detmold. Ali cowrites his music in Mexico City and Berlin alongside with singer and producer Martin Thulin best known for his bands Los Fancy Free and Exploded View (Sacred Bones), the latter fronted by the English singer Anika (Stones Throw).
Aliag is not afraid of experimenting with the fusion of pop culture and avant-garde music. His music is a mishmash of underground acts like Smerz and hyper commercial artists like A$AP Rocky or Rihanna. Others describe Aliag as a 21 century DAF with rap elements.
“The song is obviously written with D.A.F – Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft and Kraftwerk in mind, two pioneering groups of electronic music, curiously both come from the same part of Germany where I grew up, Nord-Rhein Westfalen. But somewhat it turned out sounding more like early John Foxx. Reutermusik was written in summer 2019, a few months later, both Gabi Delgado-López of DAF and Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk passed away. Sad coincidence in life. Hereby I say thank you for the music and inspiration.” – ALIAG
