Man Without Country – Sweet Harmony

Man Without Country is the musical moniker of Welsh native musician, vocalist and producer Ryan A. James. MWC first emerged onto the scene in 2007, originally as a duo, and momentarily as a trio. The project went on to produce two-acclaimed studio albums; Foe and Maximum Entropy under Cooperative Music (Universal / PIAS), before facing a number of personal and industry pressures which subsequently led to a drawn-out hiatus.
During the project’s dormancy James began experimenting and self-releasing his first solo-efforts under the name Secular Ghost. The project was well received; scoring sync placements with the likes of Made in Chelsea and Visit Santa Barbara, and gaining the interest and attention of London-based independent label Killing Moon Records.
It was around this time that James decided to take stock and reflect, whilst self-building his own personal studio in his hometown of South Wales. In early 2017, James made a bold decision to start afresh – abandoning Secular Ghost, with plans of continuing his solo work under the name Man Without Country.
James’ talents have also seen him collaborate with some prominent names. His vocal-feature on ‘Sordid Affair’ by multi-platinum-selling Norwegian electronica veterans Röyksopp was the first single taken from the duo’s 2014 studio album ‘The Inevitable End’. The album debuted at number one in the iTunes electronic music chart.
In addition, James has accumulated quite the remix CV. With remixes and co-remixes for the likes of ionnalee (iamamiwhoami), Interpol, Chad Valley, Empathy Test, School of Seven Bells, Band of Skulls, Röyksopp, M83, Moby and many others.
He made his comeback in late 2017 with a double A-sided single, aptly entitled ‘Lion Mind / Jaws of Life’, which received the support of Metro, It’s All Indie, BBC Radio Wales and WalesOnline – to name a few.
Following this, he launched a successful album crowd-funder with PledgeMusic, and finally enlisted the services of Killing Moon Records.
Man Without Country’s new album Infinity Mirror will include the stunning singles ‘Remember the Bad Things’ and ‘Lafayette’ and is due to be released in the fall of 2018.
